Cassie Barrera, MS, LPC-S
Practice Owner/Lead Therapist
In the midst of difficult times and challenges, we find opportunity. I believe that the moments we are pushed out of our comfort zone allow for personal growth and healing. I pull from several different approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I find that this creates a unique counseling experience for each client and provides a collaborative environment to explore.
One of my passions is helping teens and the family system navigate through this critical stage of development. I particularly enjoy working with teens that are resistant to change, exhibit high-risk behaviors, and/or have been to treatment. I also enjoy working with consensual non-monogamous couples and groups, practicing attorneys, and teen parents. My specialties also include working with adults struggling with relationship issues or substance abuse.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in the State of Texas. I currently hold a Master of Science degree in Professional Counseling, with a specialty in childhood and adolescent disorders. Finding a therapist that feels right for you can be an overwhelming process. I would be honored to help!

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, but it’s also an opportunity to invest in yourself. I work best with people who are motivated and curious, those who want to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships. If you’ve ever asked yourself, “Why do I keep repeating the same patterns?” or “How do my past experiences affect the way I connect with others?” those are the kinds of questions we can explore together.
My style is collaborative and supportive, with a foundation in evidence-based practices. I often draw from attachment theory to help you see how your history and relationships shape the present. Therapy is a place where you can bring your thoughts and feelings without judgment, and begin to create meaningful change.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in inpatient treatment supporting people navigating substance use. During my training at SMU, I also worked with teens and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, and relationship challenges.
Most importantly, I want therapy to feel like a genuine conversation. Together, we’ll not only work through challenges but also discover new possibilities for your life and relationships.
